Scotframe Appoints Daniel Wilson As Business Development Manager As It Aims To Increase Market Share In England

Scotframe, one of the UK’s largest offsite timber frame specialists, has appointed Daniel Wilson as Business Development Manager at its new office within the National Self Build and Renovation Centre (NSBRC), Swindon.

Headquartered in Inverurie, Scotframe is an industry leader in the supply of full kit packages for housing and commercial projects. Established in 1989, the company now has 160 employees and a £35m turnover. It has two manufacturing facilities in Inverurie and at Cumbernauld as well as sales offices and showrooms at Inverness and Dundee.

Daniel’s role will focus on developing the recently launched Swindon branch, helping Scotframe to push forward on its plans to target a larger share of the English self-build housing market.

Over the last eight years Daniel has worked on numerous award-winning, large-scale projects including the The Department Store, Brixton which won the RIBA London Award 2018 and RIBA National Award 2018; The Eden Project canopy walkway and The Wolfson Tree Management Centre.

In previous roles, which include Sales Design Manager at timber frame company Carpenter Oak & Woodland, Daniel has acquired extensive experience applicable to timber engineering, from architectural and technical design to sales and project management. He is passionate about design and building technology and has a particular interest in relationship management and after care services.

Daniel said: “I’m delighted to have started my new role at Scotframe where I’m looking forward to helping to grow the company’s presence in England. Scotframe has a long-standing reputation for quality and customer service and I’m very excited to be part of such an innovative and growing business, contributing to its long-term sustainable future.”

Malcolm Thomson, sales director at Scotframe said: “We’re pleased to have Daniel on board and with his experience in the timber frame sector, we think he will be a great addition to our team. Currently Scotland leads the way in timber frame construction, with 83% of new build homes in Scotland using timber frame, compared to just 23% in England. However, the market share for timber construction in England is steadily rising and Daniel will play an important role in developing Scotframe’s offering south of the border.”

Scotframe was acquired by Saint-Gobain – a global group with 18,000 employees in the UK alone – in November last year, a move which Scotframe believes will help accelerate its expansion into English markets.
